AspenTech released its first product, Aspen Plus® - Today, Aspen Plus is the #1 software product for chemical process modeling.

AspenTech was founded in 1981, after MIT's chemical engineering group received a U.S. Department of Energy grant to study technical innovation in the process industry in response to the 1970s oil crisis.
